04.06.2019 - 04.06.2019

Venue: Salle Simone Veil - Les Chênes 1 - University of Cergy-Pontoise

Based on a multidisciplinary approach between history, geography, law, political science and economics, this study aims to stimulate new research in order to provide a different perspective on the place of the southern French-speaking countries in the GATT and the WTO from 1960 to 1989 or only during the Doha Cycle. It is about highlighting the breakthroughs, obstacles, trade-offs and outcomes that have determined their economic future. What are the positions of these countries, particularly in the face of Anglo-Saxon standards within the GATT / WTO? Did these trade negotiations help to promote their development? In the past half-century, what is the role of the institutions located in Washington and New York? Could one think to other solutions?
